A recreational and racing bicycle club, the CVCC has been based in Hagerstown since 1983. From mid April to October there are scheduled afternoon/evening rides on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday for different levels of experience. Special longer Saturday rides are often organized by members and scheduled in the club newsletter. Club members organize an annual Century ride (the scenic Stonebridge Century). This year's ride is the 26th of August, 2000. The ride serves as the club's annual fundraiser.
The CVCC has made donations to San Mar Children's Home and to the kids helmet program at Washington County Hospital.
CVCC is affiliated with the League of American Bicyclists, which is a national bicycle information and advocacy organization

Velo Club
Antietam Velo Club (AVC) is
the racing division of the CVCC. AVC has been in existence for over 10
years and consists of approximately 20 members who participate in both
mountain bike racing and road racing. AVC is affiliated with the United
States Cycling Federation (USCF) and the
National
Off Road Bicycle Association (NORBA). AVC supports a sponsored Team
of USCF and NORBA licensed racers in all categories who compete in races
primarily in the mid-atlantic region. AVC promotes an annual criterium
race called the Mason-Dixon challenge. Usually held in mid to late summer,
this race attracts several hundred riders who compete for $2000.00 - $
4000.00 in cash prizes in all categories.
Membership in AVC is open to
anyone with an interest in competitive cycling. Selection to the sponsored
