Drug education may seem unnecessary for toddler/preschoolers, but the attitudes and habits learned early can have an important bearing on the decisions children make later. Three and four year olds are not yet ready to learn complex facts about alcohol and other drugs, but they can learn the decision making and problem solving skills that they will need to refuse alcohol and other drugs later. The "Grandma Says"... Program helps children learn about themselves, identify their uniqueness and develop early decision making skills in a fun and creative way. |

A day care home in your area would be assigned to you. For one hour, once a week, you would go into that day care home, read to the children and assist them in a planned activity. All material is provided by the program. This will help the children "bond" with their Grandma, and also minimize travel for you, the volunteer. A training will also be provided by the program. |

TheGrandma volunteer will coordinate the day and time of week that is most convenient for you. This will help to eliminate any confusion and also provide consistency for the children. All reading material and art/craft supplies will be furnished by the program. This is a modeling program, that you can certainly continue in your home, once your Grandma has finished. To ensure the success of this program, your support is crucial! Once the program is completed, you will have the opportunity to provide vital input, by completing a program evaluation. |
