WMHC Computer Lab
And
Patient Resource Center

Once in a blue moon, a special happening will take place. Such an event took place two years ago at the Western Maryland Center in Hagerstown.
In an effort to assist in the recovery of one of our ventilator patients, we granted permission to have his family install a computer in the WMHC Medical Library. Little did we know that the presence of that one computer would spark a revolution among the staff and patients that would change our institution forever.
The patient, Linn Hendershot, who after discharge came back as a communications specialist for WMHC, volunteered his services to teach the staff and patients and work hand- in-hand with the Occupational and Speech Therapy Departments to design various adaptive devices to enable patients to open new horizons through the use of the computer.
What was once the Medical Library is now the WMHC Computer Lab and Resource Center. In order to continue the growth of this area of interest with our patients, our staff is constantly seeking funding sources to expand this most magnificient project.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact this office or if you would like to talk with Linn directly, call him at [301] 766-9155.
